Defining Data Collection Methods

Group methods

When most people think of data collection from groups of people they think about Focus Groups. We will talk about a more broadly based set of activities.

The key the group based methods is that you intend to collect data from more than one person, at the same time.

Research Health Warning

Group methods require a great deal of skill.

There is a big difference between running lectures and tutorials and running a focus or data gathering group. Making a mess of these groups can be a very expensive process.

If you are interested in using group methods then you should think about doing a training course on such methods.
