Data collected

The study will involve:

 

  • Distributing a memo to CADET, CADRES, TWP, Deans and a university-wide email explaining the study and requesting input
  • Identifying the work carried out at Monash to date based on requested input, and on additional in-depth inquiries within each discipline area
  • Identifying RLO related projects conducted under the auspices of AUTC and CAUL
  • Critically evaluating associated literature on the subject
  • Planning and conducting visits to selected universities in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney to investigate RLO projects at those institutions

 

The Outcomes of this study will be:

 

  • A systematic understanding of the work carried out to date at Monash and the associated needs that prompted the work
  • A functional understanding of the way any developments at Monash would integrate with and/or utilise work being done in Australia and overseas.
  • A framework for future action in the area of RLOs to inform policy makers and key stakeholders associated with implementing and supporting ESTL and ESR at Monash

 

The Deliverables associated with this study will be:

 

  • A detailed study report by the Research Fellow to the RLO Working Party

The study report will include:

§       A detailed list of all work carried out at Monash related to RLOs, including the type of work, originators, identified needs, relevance to ESTL and ESR systems such as WebCT, key stakeholders, outcomes, current status and other relevant information

§       To the degree that such information is available, a similar list to that in (item a) above, based on investigations of selected universities in Australia

§       A synopsis of current trends and issues related to RLOs and the anticipated relevance to ESTL and ESR at Monash

  • An executive summary attached to the above report by the RLO Working Party to the Director, Learning and Teaching with interpretations and recommendations for future action

 


The Project has been contracted by the Resusable Learning Objects Scoping Committee under the management of CeLTS.

The project is being run by the Computing Education Research Group (CERG) from the Faculty of Information Technology.
